Kim Hanisch has been in the educational profession for 30 years, as a teacher, principal, director, state-wide mentor, consultant and now, as associate professor within the UAS Educational Leadership program. Hanisch earned her bachelor’s degree from Chadron State College, Master’s Degree from Bemidji State University and Educational Leadership certification through the University of Alaska. Her teaching experience began in rural Nebraska, and she has now spent the last 20 years in Alaska, including the Bering Strait School District, Kodiak and Juneau. Throughout her career, Kim has sought opportunities that might challenge her thinking about learning, in general, and challenge her effective contributions within each role. This has led her to the belief that learning, above all, is a quest in understanding the human heart and mind.
