Sol Neely


Sol Neely, Ph.D., is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation and an Associate Professor of English at University of Alaska Southeast. In 2009, he completed his doctorate at Purdue University’s “Philosophy and Literature Ph.D. Program.” He has published widely across a variety of interdisciplinary fields including phenomenology, critical theory, film studies, environmental philosophy, literature and social justice, and Critical Indigenous Studies. During the Fall 2019 semester, while on sabbatical, he traveled the Trail of Tears with his father and daughter as three generations of Cherokee citizens. He is currently working on a book-length monograph that develops an Indigenous phenomenology in the interest of decolonial justice.
