Strong relationships with families are key to lifelong success for our students. While most educators know this, they have often not been trained on how to partner deeply with families, or how to do so in culturally responsive ways. We are stronger together when we value and lean on community and family ways of knowing. This session will focus on the cultural responsiveness chapter of Stronger Together, a family partnerships framework developed for and by Alaskans. Together we will explore tools and strategies for embedding cultural ways of knowing and being into school and classroom practice. We will also spend time reflecting on a case study and sharing examples of successful family school partnerships in Alaska communities.
