Nominate an educator!
SHI is seeking nominations for its 2023 Culturally Responsive Education Awards.
SHI requests nominations of any exceptional educators who inspires, connects, challenges, and imparts knowledge while leading a profound impact. By educator, SHI recognizes that learning occurs in many spaces, therefore, by educator, we include the following roles: teacher, educational support staff, administrators, coaches, or community members whose work is of such quality to merit recognition and award.
Ten awards from three categories, will be presented during SHI's Our Cultural Landscape conference on Thursday, June 15, 2023.
Culturally Responsive Educator Awards:
- SHl's Distinguished Educator Award (7 awards). This award recognizes an educator's intentional weaving of ways of knowing throughout lessons and in the classroom that reflect our students, through place-based and culturally relevant beliefs and practices, while reinforcing our students' capabilities of achievement.
- SHl's Distinguished Leadership Award (1 award). This award recognizes outstanding leadership at a school level, district level, or community level that exemplifies collaboration, co-creation of environments that are safe, yet challenging, and where success is defined through learning, and meaningful mentorship.
- SHl's Community-Based Learning Teaching Awards (2 awards). This award recognizes that production of knowledge is not limited to the classroom but can occur anywhere and celebrates achievements in teaching that honor SHl's goals of promoting cultural diversity and cross-cultural understanding through community outreach or public service.
