Tara Devlin grew up in Bethel on Yupik Land and Anchorage on Dena’ina land. She is a child of Chris Devlin and Joan Koval. She has been working with young people for over 20 years including Indigenous youth art and identity projects in Oaxaca, Mexico. She has been a public school educator for the last six years in The Bronx, Brooklyn, and Anchorage. She is a trained facilitator of restorative circles for youth and adults and works to create safer spaces to build community and together take the steps to dismantle racism and decolonize our ways of thinking. She currently works at a middle school and high school at Anchorage School District with English language learners and Alaska Native youth. She holds a master’s inTeaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. She is a grateful to live in Alaska again.
