Mariah McNamara is a life-long Alaskan and curriculum developer for the Education Outreach office at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute (GI). Originally from Sutton, Alaska, Mariah developed a passion for place-based education early on by developing a love for the environment and cultural diversity of Alaska. After receiving a BA in Environmental Education from WWU in 2019, she moved to Fairbanks and began working at the GI. Her work as a curriculum developer is guided by a passion for more place-based STEM educational resources created specifically for Alaskan students that incorporate culture, art and community into the classroom.
