Scott Pitsch was born and raised in the Upper Midwest of the Lower 48 and moved to Alaska with his young family in 2000. For 22 years he was a professor at a small, private college on the Kenai Peninsula with a student population over 90% Alaska Native and Native American. He has now worked for the Kenaitze Indian Tribe for almost three years as the College Prep Coordinator, a role in which he advises and mentors Indigenous young people within the College and Career Readiness Center. Additionally, Scott has completed coursework as a PhD student in the Indigenous Studies program at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Scott has been involved in education both personally and professionally his entire life and that passion has been passed on to his children. Krista, his spouse of 28 years, and Scott have four children—one who works as a therapist for the tribe, one who is a middle school teacher, one who is an elementary school teacher, and the youngest, who just left for college, is majoring in elementary education.”
